The Giant Canada Off-Road Team and Easton/Giant CX Team put on an impressive display of racing at the annual Pumpkin Cross Event in Maple Ridge, BC. After returning from a recent trip to the UCI World Cups in North America both Lief Rodgers and Michael Van Den Ham put that form to good use. But it was not all that easy as fellow team member Cody Scott wanted in on the action with a few early attacks. As the race settled, Van Den Ham, Rodgers and Scott had a gap on the rest of the field including Noah Rubuliak who was keeping the rest at bay until he attacked to take 5th on the day.
As the laps whittled down the attacks kept coming. Lief Rodgers had learned a lot from Michael Van Den Ham on their trip and put in a last-lap onslaught which was enough to get a small gap. Cody Scott was not letting the Canadian National Champion have it easy either and pushed him right to the last few corners before sprinting to the line to take second on the day.
The next stop for all the riders is VCXC Aldergrove, ValleyCross and then the National Championships in Langford, BC at the end of the month.
