Introducing: The All-New Fathom Hardtail MTB Range!

September 4, 2020

Giant unveiled an all-new collection of hardtail mountain bikes featuring lightweight aluminum frames, progressive trail-riding geometry, and the new Giant Crest 34 suspension fork with 130mm of travel.

Aimed at trail riders, the Fathom range includes models with 27.5 or 29-inch wheels. Both are fitted with grippy, high-volume tires for optimal performance on a variety of trail types and conditions.

Each of the new models features a modern trail-tuned design, responsive handling and smooth control. Fathom framesets are engineered with Giant’s lightweight ALUXX SL aluminum, which features double-butted tubing to save weight without compromising strength and stiffness.

A 75-degree seattube angle makes Fathom an efficient climber, putting the rider in position to accelerate quickly and power up climbs. Up front, a 66-degree headtube combined with the new Crest 34 suspension fork with 130mm of travel makes easy work of rocks, roots and other trail obstacles. A new forged chainstay design allows for a shorter rear-center frame measurement (435mm) and makes room for more rear tire clearance. The end result is a confident ride quality that blends stability and control with quickness and agility on terrain ranging from smooth, fast flow trails to tighter, more technical singletrack.

That confident ride quality is further enhanced by a Giant Contact Switch dropper seatpost (included with all models) that lets you adjust saddle height on the fly with a handlebar remote. Other features include Boost hub spacing for stiffer wheel performance and maximum tire clearance. The frames are designed with internal cable routing for a clean look and performance, plus additional water bottle mounts on the underside of the downtube.

All Fathom bikes are designed for single chainring drivetrains, the preferred setup for modern mountain bike riders. They also come with the new Giant Romero saddle, which is designed specifically for the needs of trail riders and was tested with input from Giant’s pro enduro racers.

Riders can choose a Fathom model that best fits their body and riding style. The Fathom 29 series offers larger-diameter 29-inch wheels and high-volume 2.5-inch wide tires, a setup that excels on faster, smoother terrain with its stability, traction and roll-over capabilities. The Fathom series comes with 27.5-inch wheels and even wider 2.6-inch rubber, which makes it a great choice for tighter, more technical trails where agility and control matter most. Both the Fathom and Fathom 29 series are built up with tubeless ready rims. All models come set up with tubeless tires right out of the box, making it easy for riders to experience better traction and control plus a reduced risk of flats.

The new Fathom range will be available soon in select markets. For more information and technical details on both the Fathom and Fathom 29 series, click here.
